The M200 3D printer by Zortrax is currently one of the best “Plug and Play” printers available. Quality prints, consistently reliable and easy to set up, all at an affordable price point.
The solid metal frame houses a sturdy well thought out set up and is designed and made in Poland and founded by a Kickstarter campaign. Somewhat of an underdog in the industry, Zortrax has surprised us all with the M200 proving to be superior against the more well known brands and it will be no surprise if Zortrax establishes themselves in the future as a leader in desktop 3D printing.
For now however, choosing the M200 3D printer will provide sufficiently high detailed prints without all the hassle. Auto calibration of the heated bed along with easy to use features provides the perfect set up for first time users, along with offering the more experienced users the welcome ease and reliability we are all commanding.

With a 90 micron accuracy at a print speed of 100mm/s the printing is swift comparably and results give smooth surfaces and accurate edges with very few imperfections. The specification includes a digital display providing direct control, SD card, and the ability to use 3rd party ABS material.
With the triple heated designed extruder processed by some clever scripting software to support, Zortrax CEO Rafał Tomasiak, says that “a model printed with 200 microns resolution can look like one printed with 50 microns on other 3D printers. The result is the same, but the model is printed twice as fast.”
The auto calibration of the heated plate is hugely helpful and is made possible by metallic conductors located in the corners. There is still the option for manual adjustment with the underside thumbscrews when needed. The print bed rests on magnetic feet which gives the user the freedom to easily remove it from the housing on print completion and making your life easier when detaching your model. The unique perforations in the heated bed is designed for better stickiness on the first print layer amongst other added benefits.
The bundled Z-Suite software takes care of the set up process and is pleasantly straightforward and simple. The software allows for the importing of .stl .obj and .dxf files. There are basic set up features like scaling and position of your 3D files along with the expected print settings like speed, infill, support structure, etc, but don’t expect too many advanced settings as it’s designed with user friendliness in mind.
Clear side covers are available as an optional extra for this printer for added prevention of drafts which may be preferred in certain set ups. All in all, this is a highly recommended printer for both the novice and professional user. Frustration free prints are achievable time after time, and with a build volume that is 30% larger than the current average, the precision, efficiency and reliability offered gives the Zortrax M200 3D printer the highest accolade in our comparison and should likely be your next printer of choice.
